Blurring behind the window borders
Idon'tknow12 has released a blur plugin that blurs just what is behind the window borders!
So, it looks like there are no compelling reasons to even consider Vista anymore :P

Along with Quinn's latest additions to gwd (note that she is developing cgwd too) it is now possible to have window borders that lookexactly like pretty damn similar (Thanks SparX) to Vista's! The developments required to make them identical are on the way!

A perfect 1:1 copy of Vista's borders isn't possible yet, but it's coming quite soon.
First off, those buttons are way off! Secondly, the X button's supposed to be a bit wider than the other ones, something not possible yet. Finally, text is snapped to the top and lacks the white glow Vista has.
That said, these fixes really aren't too hard to implement!
For the love of god, can someone make a gnome-terminal with proper transparent/alpha blended (even blurry if you feel so inclined) background??
ie. terminal text is displayed normally (0% alpha) but the background is a solid color with selectable alpha?
Don't worry anonymous, current gnome-terminal (will be 2.16 in few days) supports true transparency. Patches from Fedora have been merged.
i think it would be really cool to have everything behind a window blurred. that way, if you have your inactive windows set to be transperant, everything behind that window would look blurred. should give a really cool fogged glass effect to any inactive windows, as well as help the user distinguish which inactive window is on top of which.
