New XGL for Smooth Operation
Well, thanks to DeeZiD and reggaemanu you can no get the latest version of XGL from the same repositories as you need to get the QuinnDebs! Coolness!
The QuinDebs post has the appropriate sources.list line
The original HowTo by DeeZiD can be found here
reggaeman then packaged them for Ubuntu so they can just replace the current versions
QuinnStorm put them in her repositories
Straight from DeeZiD's post, here is why you want, and don't want these files :)
Some people, myself included, are reporting more visual defects with these builds, but many others claim they are much smoother and better! I wonder how much of it is the placebo effect ;)
The ATI fix is a contentious one - X300 and X600 users in the forums are still having problems (no new ones though).
When they work, they really speed things up!
You can browse the CVS for XGL here

Advantages:reggaemanu pointed out that his debs do support the latest Intel 915 and also that, being .debs, they are not checkinstall builds...
- No more slowdowns with NVIDIA-cards
- No more glitches with ATi radeons (solved my X700mobile problems)
Disadvantages:
- new mesa doesn't support Intel 915 graphics (won't compile)
- Xgl and mesa are checkinstall builds (better than nothing)

I have updated my dapper with your XGL debs from the repository and have one issue: The panel and the spash screen have borders. The main issue it's with the bottom panel that it's inusable because I only can see the window title (Bottom Expaned Edge Panel, it says).
BTW, Big thank to all the community that made all this packages.

My packages aren't checkinstall builds, and they support 915 graphics, so there's no disadvantages.
for david sedeno : you're the first to report that, i don't know why it happens
Hi who, i have a question:
I have the quinn's debs in my ubuntu, all works fine, and change (add in)my sources.list with the quinn's repository, and i do apt-get update and dist-upgrade. All works fine.
Now, i see DeeZiD post about the lastest XGL, i need follow howto by Deezid ? or not necessary
Hi,
reggaemanu - sorry about this, I just stole the text :P
For those who want to know whether they need to follow DeeZiD - if you have QuinnStorm's repositories then you don't need to follow him.
Finally - I am not the genius brains behind all this - I am the scribe :P
You may want to update your link to XGL cvs. While it's the correct repo, the latest changes are on the xgl-0-0-1 branch.

Cheers,

Well, after reboot, today seems all works ok. Maybe something that doesn't be reloaded after the upgrade of packages...
Thanks
